Brent's Questions for Part 2

  1. Describe some of the risks and benefits of the United States engineering a regime change in other countries. Use “Iran the Next Iraq”, “Argo” and the Upfront Article, “What’s the Deal with Iran” to help  defend your answer.

Some benefits are…….
  1. One they may just may change. In the Iran the next Iraq, Iran changed but then rioted because the Shah left them in poverty. If the U.S. does change the regime, the next country may be different from Iran and not rebel
  2. We can become allies. In the Iran the next Iraq, Iran became allies with us for a while until of course the Iranian people rioted. If we do change another country, we may become allies with them.
Some Risks are…..
  1. If we Americans are in this new country trying to change their government, the people may kill us like maybe a terrorist group may be there or something else.
  2. If we do change their government, but the people don’t like it and throw out there old government. The people may build nuclear weapons secretly to launch at us. In Iran the next Iraq, that’s what the people in America think Iran is doing, putting a big bull's eye on America to launch at.

  1. (Use #4 to help you answer this question) Should the United States get involved in other countries’ policies? Use all the articles you have and additional research to answer this question.

I do not think that we America should get involved in other countries policies because…………..

  1. We may interfere with any of their customs and the people will get mad at us and become enemies. Let’s just say that an American walks into a jewish home somewhere in another country and brings cheeseburgers for everyone. This would get this family mad and then they tell everyone what happened and there enemies.
  2. Also what if that country like Iran is already mad at us. They might disguise people as the people in that country so we might get hurt.
  3. Let’s just say that another accident occurs where the American embassy is destroyed and only 7 people come out alive. Would America be able to save them again?
