Brendan's Part 2

  1. Describe some of the risks and benefits of the United States engineering a regime change in other countries. Use “Iran the Next Iraq”, “Argo” and the Upfront Article, “What’s the Deal with Iran” to help  defend your answer.

The United States has some risks and benefits of engineering a regime change in other countries such as iran. First, in the movie “Argo” when they US takes the Shah away Iran, they are outraged because they want to hang him for his sin. So, Iran decided to attack the US embassy in Tehran, and took many US people in as hostages. These people were tortured for 444 days until they got out. This is a big risk because these are people who work for the Us and they are put at the risk of death. However, there is can also be a benefit. In the documentary “ Iran, the new Iraq” it says before the hostage crisis the US made Iran a stronger army and gave them weapons. In return, Iran gave US some oil. As you can see there is a big benefit as well as a big risk to engineer a regime change in another.

  1. (Use #4 to help you answer this question) Should the United States get involved in other countries’ policies? Use all the articles you have and additional research to answer this question.

I do not think the US should get involved in other countries’ policies unless they want help. If they do get involved it could go the wrong way. This could start wars and riots . The country could also develop a hate for us just like Iran did at the beginning of Argo.
