Learning About Syria
By Brendan Beamer
The country I did for my project is Syria. Syria is located in southwestern Asia. It was a very interesting country to learn about. First, I learned all about Syria’s government. They have a president named Bashar Al-Assad. He rules for a seven year turn that can be renewed. Syria also has a Prime minister named Wael Nader al Halqi. A seven year turn seems like a lot to me and it can be renewed for seven more year. It is very interesting to learn that Syria has a president just like us. Before the civil war, most students were enrolled in public schools in Syria. The students would attend six years in primary school, three years in middle school, and three years in high school. It was interesting to learn that they go to school one less year than we do. It could be hard for the kids if the teachers try to cram in extra work in one year. Due to the civil conflict now, many schools are closed and school attendance has been irregular for many. This is bad for the kids because now they are very behind in school and that can really affect them in the future. The most common religion in Syria is Muslim and it takes up 74% of the population. Christians take up about 10% of the population. This surprised me a lot because I heard that Christianity is the most popular religion in the world. Syria was a very fun country to study and I learned more than I thought I would. Syria really is stunning! https://www.pinterest.com/jgoldperiod4/brendan-beamer-period-7-syria/
Great presentation! Syria has a president and a prime minister, but Italy only has a prime minister named Matteo Renzi. The most common religion in Syria is Muslim but in Italy it is Roman Catholic. I found Syria interesting and had fun learning about it!
ReplyDeleteGeart information! I was really interesting learning about the government and the different religions. In india the religion is different just like it is in Syria. Some poeple are Hindu and others are Budis.

ReplyDeleteGood presentation. Syria has a president and a prime minister and Iraq just has a president.
ReplyDeleteGreat presentation! I enjoyed learning about Syria. In Ethiopia, Mulatu Teshome is the president, but in Syria, you stated that Bashar al Assad is the president. Also, I learned that after the Civil War, many families couldn’t afford to send their children to school. In Ethiopia, many people are poor and don't attend school also.

ReplyDeleteI thought that you did really good on your presentation. I found it interesting that Syria has a president and a prime minister when Costa Rica only has a President and 2 vice presidents. I also found it interesting how the Civil War in Syria has lowered attendance in Syrian schools when Costa Rica has children still going to school.
ReplyDeleteBrendan,
ReplyDeleteYou have a HUGE responsibility to really learn about what is going on in Syria right now. I want you to really pay attention to the news. You had really great information about the culture of Syria but I want you to dig in and see what is going on-with the refugees, the civil war, the government, and ISIS. :)
Brendan I thought you did a good job on your pinterest presentation. Our government is very different. Madagascar's government has a president your government has a president but, he is slowing turning into a dictator. We both have the have different types of economy. I have algaculture which isn’t too weak but as you said your economy is pretty weak. Our education is pretty similar. We both have the same type of schools. Well I enjoyed your presentation I hope you enjoyed mine.
ReplyDeleteI thought you did a great job. My government is very different than yours like mine is not collapsing. Also my economy is very strong. For education most of Syria's children do not go too school. In Germany almost everybody goes to school.
