My countries name is the Philippines which is located in southwest Asia. The Philippines is made up of over 7,000 islands. Benigno Aquino who is the president of the Philippines for the past 10 years, the Filipino government is Republican which is led by a president. The president and vice president are in office for a total of six years, which is really long, legal voting age is eighteen years old. The economic growth in the Philippines has gone up a lot do to labor. Whenever the United States wants something for cheaper they will got Asian companies such as the Philippines because labor is cheaper there. That’s smart because then the United States doesn’t have to pay a lot of money, but then do the laborers get paid fairly? Most people in the Philippines celebrate Christmas, a lot of people start decorating in September and Christmas doesn’t even end until the beginning of January. This doesn’t make any sense to me, why would they keep their decorations up for four months? Because the entire country is not catholic violent uprisings occur between the catholics and the muslims. I’m surprised this happens because I expected there to be peace between different cultures. I had a lot of fun researching about the Philippines and learning new information.

I'm very interested in what you have been able to connect with regards to the cost of labor in many of the Asian countries, specifically in the Philippines. It is something we will be talking about a great deal as the year goes on. So...remember that and definitely include it in your presentation! It will be a great addition!

ReplyDeleteYour facts are really interesting! Before, I only knew a little bit about the Philippines, but now I know so much. My country (Russia) only leaves their decorations up for a short period of time, so it's cool how your country leaves theirs up for 4 months.

ReplyDeleteLexie the Philippines was amazing. Our countries are kind of similar. We both are islands and are main dish is fish and rice. Our government is very different cosplay because you guys are republicans. Our economy is pretty similar because we both live on an island.
ReplyDeleteI thought that you did really good on your presentation. The philippines and Costa Rica have a really big difference which is that the Philippines is made up of more than 7,000 islands and Costa Rica is just one piece of land.
