North Korea Versus Sudan

Now that we have studied two very different countries but with similarities concerning human right violations, I want you to connect the experiences the Lost Boys had in Sudan to the current state of North Korea.

  1. The Lost Boys and North Korea are similarly going through human right violations. The Lost Boys were attacked and force to flee or die. North Korea's people have barely any rights and are under the control of of their leader, Kim Jon Un. The Lost Boys had to leave their home but the people of North Korea have to stay at their home. Both many North Koreans and Lost Boys died. The people of North Korea are under control and the Lost Boys were free but on the run of their life. Basically, the Lost Boys and North Korea face a similar problem but is handled differently.

  3. After learning about North Korea and the lost boys I have found that there is many similarities between the two. One is that I learned in the book during the walk the lost boys had little or nothing to eat every day same in North Korea as I learned in the video. I also learned that they both live in constant fear. Well at least during the walk they were afraid of wild animals and angry tribes with guns and North Korean civilization are afraid of getting put in camps if they mess up.

    1. Sudan and North Korea's people can be seen as very similar. The Lost Boys were starving just like many people in North Korea, but in North Korea many people are brainwashed to follow anything while the Lost Boys can think for themselves.

  5. It is very hard to connect the experiences that the lost boys had to north koria because north koria you are demanded to do things and the lost boys were not demanded they just did whatever was best for them at the time. Also the Lost boys would be aloud to talk to whoever they want that they knew north Korans don't cant do much.

  6. Some people in North Korea have had to flee their homes just like the Lost Boys except the Lost Boy's walked for a long time and they had to flee with no preparation. On the other hand the people who have escaped or attempted escaping had time to prepare and knew an idea of what the dangers were. They both had to survive not eating for a while or not eating enough food. Overall both of their journeys were very hard in many ways.

  9. The Lost Boys and North Korea are going through the same human right violations. North Koreans live under a dictatorship and have to live according to Kim Jung Un. They have to do everything he says or else they will die. The Lost Boys had to leave their homes because of war. Many North Koreans and Lost Boys have died.

  10. The Lost Boys and North Koreans are in similar situations. They were/are living in constant fear. The Lost Boys had to always be scared about the war coming to their village. The North Koreans have to live in the fear of being arrested and put in a camp for breaking the smallest of laws. If they say one wrong thing, them and their families can be in great danger.

  11. North Korea and The Lost Boys can be connected by their experiences. The Lost Boys had to deal with starving and so does North Korea. The Lost Boys were fleeing, they had to go though starving and didn't have enough food. North Korean people also have to go through starvation because they don't have enough food. Also, the Lost Boys and North Korean people are similar because they both live in constant fear. When the Lost Boys were fleeing from Sudan, they had the constant fear of getting eaten by animals and getting shot by soldiers. North Korean people also live in constant fear that there dictator might relocate you and your family to a prison camp for the rest of there lives.

  12. North Korea and the Lost Boys experiences are similar and different in many different ways. One way is that there conditions are similar. The Lost Boys had little food, in the book "Lost Boy, Lost Girl" it talked about how John and Martha had very little food and water in their journey. In North Korea many of the people were malnutrition. In the video "Inside North Korea" it showed many children who were malnutrition and it showed how little food North Korea got.

  13. The Lost Boys faced tragic experiences that many North Koreans can relate to. For example, The Lost Boys faced starvation, thirst, health problems, lack of shelter, etc. and so do many North Koreans today. In addition, both had/have trouble escaping their country. North Korea has all sorts of security and if you are caught trying to escape the border then you will be killed. When the Lost Boys tried to escape the war and flee Sudan, they were also faced with difficulties since there was chaos going on and soldiers attacking. Families were torn apart, and many people injured or even killed. Both Lost Boys and North Koreans may have felt/currently feel anxious, scared, etc. But they both had/have to persevere and never give up in order to survive.

  15. The Lost Boys of Sudan have experienced many challenges that many of the North Koreans can relate to. They both faced starvation, thirst, and they once/are living in fear. The Lost Boys faced starvation and thirst while on their walk to safety. Many of them died off because of the lack of malnourishment and thirst. In North Korea many of the poeple live without food and water. Many will look for left over scaps to eat. Every morning the Lost Boys were in fear that it might be the last day that they would live. They kept hoping that they would be able to live another day. North Korea is similar because they live in fear that if they don't do something right that something might happen to them and their families.

  16. North Korea and the Lost Boys of Sudan faced many similar challenges. They both faced serious starvation. Many of the Lost Boys died because they just could not find enough food on their journey. However, in North Korea, their leader is choosing to starve them. Also they both had to live their life in fear. The Lost Boys were in fear because they thought they could die everyday and they also could have been scared because of soldiers. In North Korea, you have to love and respect the leader and if you break the smallest of laws, you and your family will be in danger.

  18. The people in North Korea and the Lost Boys have faced many challenges that are similar. First both the North Korean people and the Lost Boys did not have a lot of food. This was hard for them because without food it is very hard to survive. Another similar challenge both people face is trying to leave there country. This was hard for the Lost Boys because they were being shot at by Northern Sudan and when they were walking across the desert they would die from hunger and dehydration. This is also hard for people in North Korea because since your under a dictatorship the leader controls everything. There leader Kim Jung Un does not want his people to leave the country so if someone tries too they will be killed and there family will be put into a camp. Both the LOst Boys and people in North Korea face many similar challenges.
